Part One of a Series - My Children

Today I have a desire to write about my children - but since they are incredibly different and wonderfully made - I can only manage one at a time.

Let's begin with my oldest, Deborah. She is such an amazing gift. Debbie has been a joy from the day she burst forth on to the scene - complete with her dimples, her cute little elf ears, and her little cone head (she was a long time coming...lol). Fortunately her head returned to its proper shape rather quickly. Deborah is truly delightful and I am so proud of the person she has become. She had a great imagination as a little girl and would on occasion put a pair of tights on her head for ears and tuck a scarf into the back of her skirt for a tail and prance around as whatever creature she wanted to be for the moment. She has a deep love for literature and has a wonderful library of the classics that she adds to on a regular basis.

She made a commitment to herself and before God not to date until she found the right young man. She was faithful to that commitment and married her first and only boyfriend two years ago at the tender age of 19. Erik is a true blessing, a good husband, and a talented musician.

Debbie is currently working on her Master's Degree in Library Science - a perfect job for her in my opinion. Hopefully she will secure a decent position as an Elementary School Librarian upon receiving her diploma.

That is my beautiful redhead number one (I have two redheads and a blondie) in a nutshell.

A Piano for Me!

The most amazing thing happened not long after I posted my first message! My mother called wanting to know if I was interested in having her piano when I move into our new home. I know that no one was playing it, but I never dreamed that it would actually be mine someday. I learned to play on that very piano - not that I am accomplished in any sense of the word. I made it through to the end of John Thompson's Grade 3 lessons and had just started Grade 4 when my lessons came to an end.

Another interesting development is that the violin that I have was being checked out by the daughter of one of our customers because I couldn't get the one peg to hold the string tight. That was just returned to me all tuned up and ready to go - wow! It would seem that God is setting me up for a choice - I have the tools so what will I do with them?

This is not a dress rehearsal!

This is not a dress rehearsal! I am 48 years old and I want to do so many things and become accomplished at something - anything. I want to write, I want to create, I want to speak French fluently, I want to read the classics, I want to sing, play the violin and the piano. I need to figure out a way to stay focused and motivated so that I don't wake up one day and realize that I am running out of time. I guess I have my work cut out for me.
